A 22-year-old girl student who had come to the steel city from Kharagpur to appear in an examination for job in Mango on Sunday has gone missing.
The girl, Sweta Sharma, who is a student of M.Com and resident of Chandipur in Kharagpur, was to visit the TCS-iON at Yash Plaza on NH-33 at Mango by 12.30 pm on Sunday for appearing in the examination being conducted jointly by TCS and Railway Recruitment Board (RRB).
According to information, Sweta had arrived at Tatanagar station by Janshatabdi Express at 10 am but had not reached near the Yash Plaza building in Mango by 12.30 pm.
The cell phone of the girl is also switched off since 12.30 pm. After searching for over a day, Sweta's maternal uncle Shiv Kumar Sharma, who resides at Birsanagar has lodged a missing report with the Mango police station last night.
OC, Mango police station, Arun Kumar Mehta confirmed about received the missing person report about Sweta and said they are trying to trace the girl.
"Following the report we went over to Yash Plaza building and got the CCTV footage scanned, but found no footage of her. Significantly, we found out the tower location of the call she had made for the last time was somewhere in Tamulia and Azadnagar, suggesting that she had come to the Mango area and then went missing," said Mehta.
"We are investigating and have contacted our sources for the same. Anything might have happened with the girl. We are trying our best to locate the girl," said the police officer.
Mehta said they have circulated the information about Sweta to all the police stations across the state and also in the police stations fall in the bordering districts of Bengal and Odisha.
Shiv Kumar said Sweta had come by the train along with her aunt and had passed some time at the ladies waiting room at the Tatanagar station.
"We are worried about her. Sweta's aunt stays at Adityapur, her uncle came to pick up her aunt from the ladies waiting room. As the aunt and uncle boarded an auto rickshaw to Adityapur, she also might have boarded an auto-rickshaw for Mango," said an anxious Shiv Kumar.
Shiv Kumar expressed concern over tower location of Sweta's cell phone signal that shows Azadnagar-Tamulia. He said that she was supposed to appear in her exam. She might have fallen victim to some foul play while travelling the auto-rickshaw from the railway station."
