Bhairav Mahotsav’ kicked-off with vibrant and traditional tone at Bhairav Sthan, Bhojudih in Polkiri village under Chandankiyari block of Bokaro district on Wednesday.
The two-day Mahotsav—an effort to bring Chandankiyari in the list of important religious tourist maps of Jharkhand— was inaugurated by Governor Jharkhand Droupadi Murmu.
The programme was organised by Jharkhand Tourism Department in joint association with the Bokaro district administration, where people rejuvenated the tone of Indian classical music, Chhau dance and enjoyed several cultural programmes on the first day.
Artists from State and other parts of the country enthralled the audiences. A book 'Virashat' was also released on the occasion.Speaking on the occasion Governor said, “Jharkhand has immense tourism potential considering its demography, rich ancient tribal culture and wildlife sanctuary.”"Blessed with nature’s unlimited bounty and blessings like hills, mountains, forests, and waterfalls, Jharkhand an unsurprisingly rich State makes a perfect holiday destination, she said adding, "Tourism must be utilized as a vehicle for economic development." As the State has many attractive tourist destinations, the tourist circuits and various tourist destinations in the state are required to be provided with high-quality infrastructure, various public and wayside amenities, said Murmu. Minister for Revenue, Land Reforms, Art, Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs of Jharkhand Amar Bauri said, “The Government aim behind the Mahotsav is to enhance tourism in Jharkhand and to make State a cultural hub.” Many communities have seen significant transformation through tourism not only in India but at several destinations across the world. Tourism can be used as an economic transformational strategy for community development in Jharkhand too.
It works toward the collective goal of fostering visitor’s enjoyment and earning money for the respective destinations as well as for the local people residing within the catchment’s areas.
Like other export industries, tourism can flow huge revenue to the Government, creates an individual’s business turnover, household income and employment, said an official.
Beside others, Bokaro Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Kumar, Superintendent of Police P Murugun, local MLA, members of Zila Parishad and district administrative official were present on occasion.
