Bharatnatyam, Kathak performances delight Bhopal art enthusiasts

A wondrous Bharatnatyam and Kathak performances delighted the Bhopal art lovers. The performances were held under an event ‘Unmesh 2019’ marking its conclusion here on Monday at Bharat Bhavan auditorium.

The performances left the audience totally mesmerized.

The event began with the Kathak performance by Kathak performance by Himanshi Sahu. Later, Bhaeatnaryam jugalbandi was performed. It was performed by Mohita Saxena and Suman Kothari.

The evening began with the alluring Kathak performance. She performed Ganesh Vandana to start off her wondrous presentation. Her speedy footwork and wondrous expressions marked their beautiful performance. They undoubtedly maintained the purity of Kathak performance in their presentation.

An excellent blend of sensuous movements and graceful footwork with absolute control on rhythm was the performance by the dancers enchanted the audience a lot. The audience had a wonderful experience witnessing a marvelous Bharatnatyam and Kathak performance live on stage. In Bharatnatyam The dancers started off with Pushpanjali. "Pushpanjali" literally means 'an offering of flowers'. This item is traditionally peformed at the start of a Bharathanatyam show, where the artists salute the gods, their gurus and the audience.

Next the artists performed Alarippu. It is a piece with simple poses and movements in a particular tune and rhythm, representing the pure dance aspect of Bharathanatyam. The artists then performed pure dance presentation, devoid of any abhinaya, in which, intricate sequences are fused with repetitive musical notes. The dance deals with the execution of basic steps and mudras, combined in definite groups.

After this, the artists gave spellbinding performance of  Tillana. The entire performance was a treat for the audience as they were rapturously watching the show.
