Bhatt resumes charge as BJP State chief

Monday, 15 April 2019 | PNS | Dehradun

Returning to Dehradun after polling for the Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party state president and party’s Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar constituency candidate, Ajay Bhatt reiterated that the party will mark a resounding victory from all the five parliamentary constituencies in Uttarakhand. Bhatt returned to Dehradun and resumed charge as the party’s state president at the BJP state office where he was accorded a welcome by the party members on Sunday.

After paying tribute to BR Ambedkar on his birth anniversary, Bhatt said that he did not wish to contest the Lok Sabha elections but was directed to do so by the party leadership after the sitting MP Bhagat Singh Koshyari expressed his unwillingness to contest the election. He said that he had been regularly taking feedback from the party’s district heads and others apart from touring his constituency extensively. He stressed that the general public is enthusiastic and eager to re-elect Narendra Modi as Prime Minister for a second term. Due to the will of the public, the BJP is confident of victory in all the five Lok Sabha constituencies in the state. “While campaigning in the Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar constituency for the Lok Sabha election, I kept in touch with the routine activities of the party and used to get information from across the state. Based on the information I have received from across the State, I am confident that the BJP candidates will be elected in all the parliamentary constituencies of Uttarakhand.” Referring to the situation in Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar constituency, he said that he did not find any challenge in the constituency from Congress candidate Harish Rawat. Expressing confidence about his chances of winning from the constituency, he added that the margin of victory would be considerable. The BJP State president further informed that the party workers from Uttarakhand would also go to other states to campaign for the party. They would be going to Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, West Bengal, Odisha and Chhattisgarh. The BJP State vice president Jyoti Prasad Gairola has prepared the list of party workers to be sent to these states for campaign.

Earlier, while welcoming him, Gairola said that even while campaigning in his constituency for the parliamentary polls, Bhatt had maintained communication across the state.  The BJP State media in-charge Devendra Bhasin was also present on the occasion. It will be recalled here that with Bhatt being busy campaigning as the candidate from Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar constituency, the party’s state general secretary Naresh Bansal had been temporarily made the acting state president of the BJP.
