Biggest basis for the strengthening of democracy is justice: CM

Inaugurating the Madhya Pradesh Judges Association convention in Jabalpur today, Chief Minister, Kamal Nath, said that the biggest basis for the strengthening of democracy is justice. If all will get justice on time, democracy will be strengthened. The Chief Minister declared to observe December 3 as Advocate’s Day.

The convention was presided over by Madhya Pradesh High Court Chief Justice SK Seth while Law and Legislative Affairs, Public Relations and Science and Technology Minister PC Sharma was the special guest.

Nath said that India is the world's largest democracy. He said that democracy is strengthened only when people get justice. Madhya Pradesh government will not lag behind in providing all essential resources and facilities to the judicial system.

Describing the democratic system of India as an ‘ideal’ for the world, the Chief Minister said that the judicial system of our country full of diversities, is actually nurturing and preserving our democracy. He said democracy means independence, equality and justice. Independence and Equality have their limitations but justice has no limit. Justice gives us independence and equality.

We must always keep in mind that justice will not be complete until and unless justice is not accessible to the poor and weaker sections. The Chief Minister said that for this the judicial infrastructure has to be empowered. He said that the lower courts will be strengthened. The Government will fully cooperate to mete out justice to the victims. Nath said that today the Judiciary has to face new types of challenges. For this modern strategy will have to be adopted.

He said the High Court and district courts will have to be connected to state-of-the-art techniques.

Chief Justice of Madhya Pradesh High Court Justice SK Seth said that despite limited resources, the level of judicial commitment in Madhya Pradesh is commendable. He also mentioned the increasing number of medico-legal cases, lawsuits and pending cases. He said that the skillfullness of the judiciary can be increased with new recruitments and smooth operation along with the availability of required financial resources.

Paying tributes to martyr Ashwini Kumar of Jabalpur district who sacrificed his life in Pulwama, Law and Legal Affairs Minister Sharma said that culture is transmitted from Jabalpur to the entire state. He said that the government will pay special attention to infrastructure development and modernization of the courts in the judicial sector according to its promise in the manifesto.

Administrative Judge of Madhya Pradesh High Court HG Ramesh, Portfolio Judge RS Jha, Rajya Sabha MP Vivek Tankha, Attorney General Rajendra Tiwari, President of Judges Association DK Nayak also expressed his views in the programme. Justices of MP High Court, district courts and office- bearers of Judges Association were present on the occasion.
