The Ganjam Zilla Biju Shramika Samukshya felicitated the newly-elected people’s representatives of Ganjam district at a special programme, “Saraswat Samabesh and Sambardhna Sabha” held here on Sunday.
The meeting organised by Samukshya secretary Ujjala Padhi was presided by BJD Ganjam district BJD secretary Jagannath Sabat.
Attending as chief speaker, former Assembly Deputy Speaker Rama Chandra Panda appealed to the elected representatives and senior BJD functionaries to expedite the implementation of all the State-run welfare schemes and ensure that benefits reach all beneficiaries at right time. Panda wished that all the newly-elected MLAs and MPs make their tenures successful and meaningful. Most of the speakers stressed on implementation of pro-people schemes initiated by the BJD Government.
Brahmapur MP Chandra Sekhar Sahu, Brhampur MLA Bikram Panda, Pollasara MLA Srikanta Sahu, Khallikote MLA Suryamani Baidya and Aska MLA Manjula Swain were given a rousing reception.
Samukshya secretary Padhy made appealed to the MP and the MLAs to mount pressure on the Government to implement the comprehensive pension and other welfare schemes for the unorganised labourers as currently the State-sponsored schemes are confined to accident, death and health-related financial benefits only.
Among others, BJD State secretary T Gopi, former BeMC Corporator Bhismacharya Choudhury, Suresh Chandra Tripathy and Trinath Nayak were present.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Samukshya secretary U Padhi.
