On the insistence of National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE), Biometric attendance system would be installed in all the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) colleges of Uttarakhand. The decision is important as the students which would have less than 80 percent attendance would not be allowed to appear in the examination. In a meeting of the private B.Ed colleges affiliated to both HNB Garhwal university and Sri Dev Suman Uttarakhand University held on Friday a decision to install bio metric attendance machines was taken.
The President of the association of self financed institutions Sunil Agarwal said, “With installations of these machines, the instances of students not attending classes regularly and getting the degree of B Ed would not happen. A perception that attendance is not necessary was in the society now it is time to change this perception. In the meeting representatives of 28 colleges participated.’’
It is worth mentioning here that the process of admissions in the colleges affiliated with Sri Dev Suman University is currently in progress. In the colleges under HNB Garhwal university, the process of applications would start on August 18 and on August 20, the colleges would release the merit list. Interestingly, the Garhwal University has decided to complete the process of admission on August 30.
The new session in all the colleges would start from first week of September.
