BITOTSAV – 19 concludes on high note

The annual fest of BIT Mesra – BITOTSAV - 19 concluded on a high note on Sunday with a plethora of flagship, formal and informal events that provided a perfect platform to the participants to showcase their talents. The day began with ‘Dance Saga’ where team Malang, team MVS Crew and team Mayur won the competition followed by ‘Talkies’ that featured a few selected short films.

The renowned actor of ‘Sarabhai vs. Sarabhai’ -- Rajesh Kumar was the judge for the event. The final round of ‘Abhinay’, a flagship competition under BITOTSAV 19’s dramatics module, ‘Swaang’ was organized on the concluding day.

The final round of ‘Pukaar’ -- the street play competition was the amalgamation of content, acting, audience response, and direction. The event, CSI Files challenged the participants to provoke their grey cells and bring out their inner investigative journalists.  ‘Cryptic Crossword’ encouraged the participants to put on their thinking caps and test their wits and knowledge.

During the event ‘What’s in the box’ – conceived keeping the theme of BITOTSAV’19, five boxes were present representing five different parts of Asia- East, West, North, South, and Central. Meanwhile, ‘during the Journalist hour’, a total of six teams was selected on the basis of their performance in the first round for the panel discussion round. One member from each team was invited on stage while the other members had to form another panel and rebute the ones present on stage.

‘Humorously Yours’ focused on stand-up comedy. The first round of the event was conducted online. After a round of shortlisting based on the first round, round 2 was conducted wherein the participants had put on a show of 3-4 minutes in front of a live audience. ‘Beauty and the Geek’ was a compatibility test where the participants had to answer the questions based on the facts of their respective partners. 

Face painting competition captured the attention of people where the contestants were judged on the basis of adherence to the topic and the overall aesthetic appeal.  The BITOTSAV Treasure Hunt tinkled the brain caps of the participants as they had to decipher the twisted clues and follow some directions in order to reach their final destination.

The final round of Asian parliamentary debate was conducted where the finalists were divided into two teams and then the topic of the debate was revealed, which was “The house believes that in light of the CM of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee's antics and the hampering of investigation into powerful people, the states' powers need to be curtailed for an overall better and transparent governance”.

BIT Roadies, drawing inspiration from the original MTV Roadies series, tested the grit and physical endurance of the participants. The KTM stunt show had four performers who performed some amazing and dangerous stunts. The event concluded with the performance of music sensation – Sachin-Jigar.
