BJD once again showed its supremacy in Jagatsinghpur district covering four Assembly constituencies and the Lok Sabha seat of Jagatsinghpur.
In Jagatsingpur Assembly seat, BJD candidate Prasanta Kumar Muduli defeated his Congress contestant Chiranjib Biswal by a margin of 8,870 votes. Muduli scored 67,169 votes and Biswal got 58,299 votes, while the BJP candidate remained at the third position with 27,448 votes.
In the Paradip Assembly seat, BJD candidate Sambit Routray won by a comfortable margin. He defeated his Congress rival Arindam (Bapi) Sarkhel.
In Tirtol SC Assembly seat, BJD candidate Bishnu Das won defeating BJP candidate Ramakanta Bhoi. In Balikuda-Erasama, BJD rebel Damodar Rout who was contesting on BJP ticket remained in the third position while the seat went to the BJD’s Raghunandan Das.
BJD nominee Rajashree Mallick too won the Jagatsingpur Lok Sabha seat.
