BJP, Congress candidates’ face off at Samwad

Monday, 15 April 2019 | PNS | Ranchi

Samwad’, a programme organised by Federation of Jharkhand Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI) on the topic ‘Vision of candidates and respective party’s on Ranchi constituency’, on Sunday witnessed participation of two prominent contestants for the Lok Sabha elections from Ranchi, BJP’s Sanjay Seth and Congress’ Subodh Kant Sahay.

Both the speakers put forth their views in front of businessmen and industrialist of the State.

When asked about the future plans on business and industry policy, Sahay said that if the party is voted to power, the government will bring a policy for startups in which they will not have to face government’s interference within three years of inception, they can start their business without any paperwork and they will not have to pay any taxes.

On the issue, Seth said that the Centre and the State government have taken several initiatives for the betterment of business and industries in the last five years.

Replying to the question on whether a manifesto should be legal binding, Sahay said it should be. As Seth alleged that Congress had said in its manifesto that it will support separatists and extremists, Sahay attacked, pointing out that the Prime Minister had announced before 2014 elections that Rs15 lakh will be credited into the  bank accounts of every citizen and jobs will be given to two crore people every year, but nothing happened.

However, as he spoke, people started chanting Modi’s name, but this did not deter Sahay and he continued speaking. Later FJCCI president Sanjay Maru had to intervene to pacify the people.

Later, Seth said that as he is contesting the elections for the first time but he has faith on welfare work done by the PM Modi led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in last five years through various schemes.

“Modi government has provided fearless environment in the country and people can move without fear anywhere now. India’s economy strengthened during the term and the country become fifth largest economy in the world. In the field of defense India become the fourth largest power in the world. At present the opposition has nothing against Modi but they are still trying to prevent him from coming to powe,” he said.

Seth added, “Congress has been in power for 55 out of 70 years. During these years the party has shouted only one slogan ‘Garibi Hatao’ but poverty still exists. The Modi government has tried to eradicate poverty through various welfare schemes including Jan Dhan Yojna, Ayushman Bharat Yojna, Ujjwala Yojna, Prime Minister Awas Yojna and others.”

Replying to this, Congress candidate and four times MP, Sahay said that after formation of the State, one party has ruled the State for 15 years out of 19 years but due to the wrong policies of the ruling party, the State is far away from what it was supposed to be.

“A large numbers of industries have been shut down in Tupudana Industrial Area, Kokar Industrial Area and Tatisilwai Industrial Area. Many big industries became sick including Navin Jindal’s Steel Plant and Steel plant of Electro Steel. The sad part is that despite being a mineral rich State, the resources are not being utilized properly,” he said.
