BJP has raised the allegations on Sunday against Congress that it is linked to the recovery of Rs 1.50 crore and a currency counting machine in a house raided by the Income Tax department at Shailendra Nagar.
BJP spokesperson Sanjay Shrivastava while interacting with media persons said, the amount is connected to liquor lobby and the house is linked to it. The diary recovered from it mentions about Rs 358 crore and it is linked to ‘Hawala’.
He alleged that liquor without excise duty is being kept in the liquor shops and the sale is taking place sans billing. The excise department has become conduit for election funds.
BJP spokesperson said, “We had urged the Election Commission to monitor the CM residence, residences of ministers, CM’s residence at Bhilai and other Congress leaders’ residences. It is a critical situation. Congress in its election manifesto had promised total prohibition. But, Congress is trying to purchase democracy through money received from liquor.”
