BJP candidates file nominations from Tehri, Garhwal

Bharatiya Janata Party candidates from Tehri and Garhwal Parliamentary constituencies filed their nominations in Dehradun and Pauri respectively on Friday.

In Dehradun, the BJP candidate from Tehri, Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah filed her nomination at the collectorate. Earlier, a public rally was held at the BJP city office near the Parade Ground. Along with chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, the MLAs from Assembly constituencies within the Tehri parliamentary constituency were also present along with Shah. Addressing party workers on the occasion, the chief minister criticised Congress national president Rahul Gandhi’s adviser Sam Pitroda’s statement on the Balakot airstrikes, terming the statement as irresponsible. Stating that the achievements of the BJP led Central Government were historic in its five-year term, Rawat said that the BJP is contesting the parliamentary election on the issues of development and nationalism.Later, he along with other party leaders participated in a rally with Shah to the nomination venue.

In Pauri, three candidates filed their nomination paper for the Garhwal parliamentary seat in the Lok Sabha 2019 election on Friday, while one candidate had filed his nomination on the second day of the nomination in the district headquarters Pauri. The BJP candidate Tirath Singh Rawat filed his nomination paper before the returning officer district election officer/ District Magistrate Dheeraj Singh in collectorate on Friday after offer prayers at the Kandolia temple. Earlier, he along with chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat addressed a large public gathering. Cabinet minister Harak Singh Rawat and Pauri municipality chairman Yashpal Benam among others were also present on the occasion. The other candidate who filed their nomination include Uttarakhand Kranti Dal candidate Shanti Prasad Bhatt and independent candidate Mukesh Semwal.

Earlier, Kailash Shankar Trivedi had filed nomination on March 19, the second day of filing nomination. Till now four candidates have filed their nomination. While March 25 is the last day of nomination, the same can be withdrawn by March 28.
