BJP dares CM to cancel ‘Nandraj agreement’

Sunday, 22 September 2019 | Staff Reporter | DANTEWADA

BJP MLA and the party’s in-charge of Dantewada assembly constituency Shivratan Sharma on Saturday dared Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel to cancel the controversial “Nandraj agreement” for iron ore mining.

Addressing the media, Sharma said the Chief Minister should stop politics over the Nandraj mountain in Bailadila of Dantewada district.

He alleged that the mining contacts given in the nine months tenure of the present government exceeded the number contracts given to Adani group by the BJP government in its 15-year rule.

Sharma said the permission to cut down the trees in Nandraj was given overnight and the arrangements were made so.

“If the Congress is with the local people in true sense over the protection of Nandraj mountain, then was the government sleeping over the issue for last nine months and why the agreement has not yet been cancelled. Instead of deriving political benefit, the government should annul the agreement,” he said.

Leader of Opposition Dharamlal Kaushik said the women power (matrushakti) will once again ensure victory of the BJP as its candidate Ojaswi Mandavi will further strengthen it by raising their voice in the assembly.

BJP state president Vikram Usendi said the party’s moral is high and victory will be for those who stand on the ground.  He said workers in all sectors have stayed together even as administrative pressure was exerted to scuttle party’s prospects.
