While the Congress continued to struggle in finalising the names of its candidates for posts of District Panchayat presidents and Block Pramukhs, the Bharatiya Janata Party announced the name of its 11th candidate for district Panchayat president’s post. Basanti Devi will be the party candidate for the post of district Panchayat president in Bageshwar.
On Wednesday, the party had announced the name of Jyoti Rai as its candidate for the post of Champawat district Panchayat president. On Thursday, the party also announced the names of its Block Pramukh candidates including Bhagwan Singh in Doiwala, Divya Bharti in Raipur, Lakshmi Devi in Khirsu, Rajesh Khanduri in Bironkhal and Radha Rawat in Pokhri. With this, out of the 12 posts of district Panchayat presidents, the BJP has declared its candidates for 11 and out of 89 posts of Block Pramukhs, it has announced the names of 68 candidates. The party has also appointed its districts election in-charge.
