BJP eyes Muslim, SC/ST votes to win Assembly polls

Saturday, 21 September 2019 | Sapna Singh | NEW DELHI

Leaving no stone unturned to wrest the control of Players Building from the ruling AAP, the central leadership of the BJP had devised plans to carpet bomb the national Capital in the run up to the Delhi Assembly elections.

Top sources told The Pioneer that along with State election in-charge Prakash Javadekar and co-in-charge, Hardeep Singh Puri, Nityanand Rai will also play a key role in profiling and visiting Assembly segments, especially those with sizeable number of Muslim votes, SC&ST. The BJP wants to rewrite the poll lexicon by winning seats where it never was in serious contention in the national Capital. There are12 reserved and 8 Muslim dominated Assembly constituencies that BJP wants to change the final poll outcome.

While the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal has launched a blitzkrieg  of people friendly schemes primarily in education, health and rural-urban infrastructure focusing regularization of unathorised colonies, it has become quite challenging for the seven BJP Lok Sabha MPs leaders to counter Kejriwal's popular schemes and tackling Dengue awareness campaign with BJP ruled civic agencies.

Keeping in mind the impending elections, time constraint and public memory in mind, the central leadership has planned to hit capital with well-built framework to engage masses and spread words on abrogation of 370 and regularization of unathorised colonies in Delhi.

In first, the three top leaders — Union Ministers Prakash Javdekar, Hardeep Puri and Nityanand Rai will select constituencies and will choose suitable representatives from each assembly.

"This will be a long exercise in which three leaders recommend the name of assembly constituency representative to the party high command." said a BJP source confirming BJP will not reveal Chief Minister's candidature. If sources are to be believed, the BJP National In- charge Amit Shah is taking personal interest and determined to bloom the 'Lotus' in Delhi's street.

When asked why Rai's name has been picked up for this assessment, the leader replied, "Rai has strong hold on the issues pertaining to National Security, we performed before public by abrogating 370 in Kashmir, surgical strike 'Balakot' is another example."

Delhi's politics is entirely different from other Indian States and Union Territories (UTs) and this is why, the Central leadership will act as master guiding all seven parliamentarians.

"In Delhi, issues are different, here people are not jobless but change in lifestyle is emerging problem, instance - diseases like dengue, respiratory issues due to polluted air and growing completion in market," said the leader.

Amidst all the challenges , Delhi people co-relate themselves with policy matters , in such scenario, the intervention of top leaders is must to convey the work done by Narendra Modi Government in Delhi's assembly constituencies.
