BJP flays Congress' ‘religious politics' on Sadhbhavna Day

Thursday, 22 August 2019 | PNS | Ranchi

State Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday, termed Congress Party’s attempt to conduct politics through religious priests on Sadbhavna Day a very unfortunate incident. The day was celebrated as birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

Criticising the Congress Party for giving religious colour of birth anniversary of the late Prime Minister, State BJP Spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo said that instead of paying tribute to the former Prime Minister the party’s leaders were focusing more on votes on the occasion of Sadbhavna Day. He said that the most regrettable thing is that instead of reading the peace text, religious leaders provoked the attendants against the government and appealed the people to vote for the Congress.

Hitting hard on Congress leaders for doing politics on pretext of religion, Shahdeo said that BJP proved it earlier also that Congress leaders were doing politics in the name of religion. Some priests of a particular religion had worked as Congress agent in Khunti parliamentary constituency, he added.

“Yesterday also on the occasion of birth anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi some people tried to provoke religious sentiments and appealed to people to vote for Congress in the name of God. It is blow on secular structure of India. Congress is trying to spread religious hatred among people of the State for vote,” said Shahdeo.

Shahdeo demanded that Congress leaders should publicly apologise for doing such low-level politics on Sadbhavna Diwas.
