Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee chief spokesperson Sushil Anand Shukla said the probe committee formed by the BJP over incarceration of two farmers on false cases of loan default was an attempt by the saffron party to cover up its failure in controlling crimes like duping and forgeries committed against farmers during its 15-year rule in the state.
BJP Farmers Cell state president Poonam Chandrakar on Friday evening constituted a four- member committee to probe how and for what reasons two farmers of Bastar were sent to jail.
The probe committee will submit its report to the BJP state president. The team visited Bastar on Saturday.
Shukla claimed that when BJP was in a position to take action, it sat over the issue.
Now after the duping case came to the fore, the BJP constituted the probe committee, he said.
Instead, different committees should be formed to probe different duping cases occurred during BJP rule in the state, the Congress leader said.
Shukla alleged that under patronage of the erstwhile ruling party, in the name of providing loan for drip irrigation, sprinkler system and shed construction, farmers were duped.
