BJP govt has changed the face of UP: Yogi

Friday, 20 September 2019 | PNS | Lucknow

Claiming that the Bharatiya Janata Party government had changed the face of Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that everyone knew the problem the state was facing when the BJP came to power and the challenges were transformed into opportunities.

“We touched new heights of development in every field under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. We also achieved the number one slot in various development sectors. Due to these, we have created a new identity of the state that is based on good governance, development and trust,” Yogi told media persons on the occasion the BJP government’s completion of 30 months in office on Thursday.

The Chief Minister said that when the BJP came to power, projects were only on paper. “There was an atmosphere of chaos and corruption and law and order was in a bad shape. There were frequent riots and every section of society was affected by this,” he said.

Yogi said that investments of over Rs 2 lakh crore were received and 20 lakh additional jobs were generated.

“Similarly, in the MSME sector and One District, One Product (ODOP) scheme, over 30 lakh jobs were generated. Besides, UP has increased its export potential, which is 28.8 per cent more than the previous year,” he said.

The Chief Minister said that the state government changed the perception of law and order among the masses due to which Lok Sabha elections were conducted peacefully in 2019.

“Successful completion of projects like Prayagraj Kumbh, 15th Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas, Investors’ Summit-2018 and groundbreaking ceremony only added feathers to our cap,” he said.

Yogi said the state government was using technology to benefit the people through various public welfare schemes.

“E-POS machines are being used for effective distribution of ration to the poor at reasonable rates in a transparent manner,” he said.

Talking about construction of expressways in the state, Yogi said that Purvanchal Expressway would be open for vehicles by the end of 2020 and in the next two months, the foundation stone of Bundelkhand Expressway would be laid.

“We are also completing all processes to construct Ganga Expressway connecting Meerut with Prayagraj,” he said.

Highlighting the success of the Government of India’s flagship Ujjwala Scheme, the Chief Minister said that 1.35 crore poor families of UP were benefited by it.

“In the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban and Rural), UP holds the first position by constructing more than 25 lakh houses.

Similarly, the UP government topped the chart by paying a record cane price of Rs 73,000 crore. The government also secured first position in the country by providing toilets to 2.61 crore families in rural areas,” the Chief Minister said.

“Another achievement is the success of Saubhagya Yojana under which 1.09 crore power connections have been given. Besides, steps have been taken to control communicable diseases like encephalitis, black fever and malaria,” he said.

The Chief Minister said that in Gorakhpur, the state government, aided by the Union government, would install biofuel plants and they would be connected to cow shelters.

“Alternative fuel will be generated with the help of organic waste. Likewise, under Chief Minister Tourism Development Scheme, a destination will be developed in every Assembly constituency,” Yogi said.

On environment conservation, the Chief Minister said that to expand green cover in the state, the state government planted 22.59 crore saplings, a feat recognised at the global level.

To mark the completion of 30 months of his government, the Chief Minister released a booklet, ‘Jan Connect’, on the achievements of his government.

Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma, BJP state chief Swatantra Dev Singh and Acting Chief Secretary RK Tiwari were also present on the occasion.
