Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav has alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party government is persecuting his party workers by implicating them in false cases and sending them to jail.
“The BJP-led government in Uttar Pradesh is misusing the power. Development work has come to a standstill as the present political dispensation is more concerned about harassing its opponents than extending relief to the poor,” Yadav said while addressing SP workers here on Thursday.
He said to mislead the people on its failures, the BJP was going to start padyatra from October 2 to October 31. The SP chief said that instead of concentrating on solving people’s problems, the BJP government was more interested in padyatra politics.
Yadav said the BJP government talked about doubling the income of farmers but it had taken no step so far either to ensure good remuneration of their produce or redress the grievances of the farmers.
“This is the right time to expose the BJP government. It is a fact that farmers, youth, poor and downtrodden are facing hardships in this regime. This is the right time to go to the people and tell them about the people-oriented works done by the Samajwadi Party government,” Yadav said.
Meanwhile, Yadav met international mountaineer Sagar Kasana in the party office here.
