BJP levels fresh charges on Hemant

Tuesday, 17 September 2019 | PNS | Ranchi

A day after former Chief Minister and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) working president Hemant Soren served a legal notice to Chief Minister Raghubar Das for leveling corruption allegation against him relating to purchase of a land worth Rs 500 crore, BJP State spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo on Monday posed series of questions on the JMM leader.

Raising the issue of violation of Chottanagpur and Santhal Pargana Tenancy (CNT/SPT) Act, Shahdeo said that Soren family is the biggest violator of CNT/SPT Act in State. He said, “The JMM leader should explain how a person who is resident of Gola (Ramgarh) had purchased land plots at different districts in State. What is actual price of these purchased land plots? By purchasing tribal land plots across State, Soren family has violated CNT/SPT Act.”

The BJP leader also sought explanation from Hemant, on how a poor tribal Lalu Oraon’s land, where presently Sohrai Bhavan worth crores exist, was purchased by Soren’s family for mere lakhs of rupees.

The BJP leader claimed that the Soren’s family, by violating CNT/SPT Act, had purchased tribal lands at token prices across State and Hemant after becoming chief minister, to legalize all such ‘illegal’ land deals, made amendment in CNT/SPT Act. Hemant, when he was Chief Minister signed the amendment bill on September 18, 2014.

The BJP leader also attacked Hemant on ‘illegal’ auctioning of sand ghats to Mumbai-based contractors which was repealed by Raghubar Das when he became Chief Minister of State. The BJP leader also asked Hemant to clear his stand on relationship with JMM treasurer Ravi Kejriwal. According to Shahdeo, Kejriwal is owner of several shell companies having investment of several persons in his companies.

Attacking Soren’s family, the BJP leader claimed that JMM had tried to sell state’s identity in Delhi for Rs 3 crore during Jharkhand movement. Shahdeo said, “The Soren family is deep rooted in corruption and on December 2014, former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi at a function in Pakur had stated that JMM leadership had tried to loot state mines and minerals. Why Soren family did did not sent legal notice JVM Chief at that time?” The BJP leader also alleged that Hemant’s brother Basant owns mining company in Pakur district which is allegedly involved in illegal mining for which the company was charged with Rs 12 crore fines. The said company work was to export stones from Pakur at foreign countries.

The BJP spokesperson demanded investigation from appellant authority in several land deals and properties amassed by Soren family across the State.
