Members of the Bharatiya Janata Party Minority Morcha burst crackers and distributed sweets to celebrate Narendra Modi government’s victory in ensuring the passage of Triple Talaq Bill, maintaining that it had restored the pride of Muslim women.
“This is not the victory of the government but of Muslim women who were deprived of their rights because of the archaic practice. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has only fulfilled the promise of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and Sabka Vishwas,” said Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma in Lucknow on Wednesday.
A function was held at the BJP state head-quarters in which Muslim women raised slogans of ‘Modi hai to mumkin hai’.
Sharma said that the smiling faces of Muslim sisters spoke volumes about the success of the Triple Talaq Bill.
“Many women present here are victims of triple talaq. Today, they are on cloud nine because justice has been done to them in the true sense,” he said.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that the Modi government moved the Bill only after Supreme Court gave a ruling against triple talaq.
“Political parties and leaders who were opposing the Triple Talaq Bill are in fact anti-woman as they never wanted Muslim women to be brought into the mainstream,” Sharma commented.
