A delegation of BJP parliamentarians from State on Tuesday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and raised the issue of revival of Heavy Engineering Corporation (HEC) and setting up railway zonal office in State Capital. The BJP delegation comprised Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth, Koderma MP Annapurna Devi, Dumka MP Sunil Soren and Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahato.

Seth informed the PM that Heavy Engineering Corporation (HEC) is one of the leading suppliers of capital equipments in country for steel, mining, railways, power, defense, space research, nuclear and strategic sectors. Seth said: “HEC, set up in 1958, is said to  be the mother of all industries in country. The HEC, since its inception, has contributed in supplying capital equipments for Chandrayaan (India lunar space mission), naval submarine, equipments for gun barrel, T-72 tank and others.” The Ranchi MP said that with the seamless integration of its facilities, HEC is one of the largest integrated engineering complexes in India.

The Ranchi MP said that recently a delegation of NITI Aayog a policy think tank of the Government of India, visited the HEC and had discussion with senior officials on revival of the industry. Prior to today’s meeting PM, Seth had also raised the issue of revival of HEC in Lok Sabha few days back.

The delegation also raised the issue of setting up railway zonal office in Ranchi. The delegation informed the PM that Railway every year generates revenue of more than Rs  25,000 crore from Jharkhand. Presently, the Railway South Eastern railway zonal office is located in Calcutta. The SER zonal office should be shifted to Ranchi and after merger of Dhanbad Railway Division, a separate Railway division should be created with its headquarters in Ranchi.

With the setting up railway zonal office in Ranchi, Jharkhand will get lion’s share of revenue generated through transportation of minerals from State which will be held in development of people in State. The setting up of Ranchi zonal office will help in creating job avenues which will help in solving employment issue.

The PM heard the demands of delegation patiently and informed the delegation to give positive response to their demands.
