BJP predicts JMM’s fall in Santhal, Kolhan regions

Tuesday, 14 May 2019 | PNS | Ranchi

The State BJP on Monday predicated that the ongoing general elections will be the last election of Jharkhand’s regional party Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) as the party will be wiped out from Kolhan and Santhal Pargana regions—the traditional stronghold of JMM.  The State BJP unit claimed that due to different welfare schemes launched by Modi Government and continuous and regular surveillance of these welfare schemes by Chief Minister Raghubar Das the wind in these tribals heartland of State is blowing for a change.

State BJP spokesperson, Pratul Shahdeo said, “Apart from welfare schemes launched by Modi Government, Chief Minister Raghubar Das has visited Santhal several times.” The BJP leader also listed out the schemes launched by Modi Government such as setting up of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), airport in pilgrimage city Deoghar, construction of inland port in Sabhiganj, which will boost trade and commerce in the area, the construction of National Highway-18, setting up Pahariya Battalion for tribal youth of the region among others.

The construction of AIIMS at Deoghar is coming up at Devipura block of district. The medical hub spread at an area of 236.92 acres of land foundation stone was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi few years back. Sources said that with coming up of state-of-art medical hub will cater to the medical needs of people especially those who in search of better treatment have no other alternative but to move to other parts of country especially at AIIMS Delhi and Christian Medical College (CMC) Vellore.  The medical studies at AIIMS Deoghar are likely to commence from this year from transit campus.

Similarly, on April 2017, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of a multi-model terminal on river Ganga at Sahibganj.  The multi-model terminal is an important component of the development of the National Waterways-1 from Varanasi to Haldia, a distance of 1390 km.

Shahdeo claimed that the father-son duo JMM chief Shibu Soren and his son Hemant Soren who were Chief Ministers of State and represented Santhal region had only exploited the poor innocent tribals of State.

Echoing the views of Shahdeo, BJP state secretary Subodh Singh Guddu said, “I have been visiting various parts of State as part of campaigning for party candidates. What I have noticed is that this time the wind is blowing from rural areas to urban. The last (2014) election was for making Narendra Modi as Prime Minister, but this time the mood of people is to retain Modi as PM for next five years.”

Singh claimed that the welfare schemes launched by Modi Government such as Ujjwala Yojana, Ayushman Yojana, opening up of accounts through Jan Dhan and other social security schemes have greatly benefitted the people especially the poor.
