BJP throwing a spanner in Govt's projects, claims AAP RS member

Saturday, 31 August 2019 | Staff Reporter | NEW DELHI

AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh accused the BJP for obstructing works done by Delhi Government in public interest, saying the only task of BJP leaders is to oppose the good work done in the interest of the public by the Aam Aadmi Party led Government in Delhi.

Singh said that leaders of the BJP are unable to decide whether they stand with the public or against them while opposing pro people policies introduced by the Government.

Addressing the media, he said that the AAP Government in Delhi has been continuously working in the public interest for the last five years but it seems that the BJP is not happy with the work being done in the interest of the public.  "This is the reason when the Delhi Government proposed a scheme to provide free travel for women, the BJP opposed it," he said.

He said that the BJP opposed all the people oriented initiatives such as the proposed free electricity up to 200 units, ownership of houses via registration to the people living in the unauthorised colonies of Delhi, waiving the outstanding water bills. Singh also said all the prominent leaders of the BJP including Manoj Tiwari, Vijay Goel and Vijender Gupta are competing among themselves to become the Chief Minister of  Delhi.

"Since Vijay Goyal is the most senior among these three people, I have written a letter to him asking three questions to the BJP which are as follows," he said.

The first question is — Are you in favour of giving 200 units of free electricity to the people of Delhi? Second— Is BJP in favor of waiving the water bills of the people of Delhi? and the last question is —Who is BJP’s CM candidate in the upcoming elections to contest Kejriwal?

Meanwhile, Singh further said that Goyal on Friday had organised an event on the issue of water and electricity in Vijaypur area where former State president and leader of AAP Dilip Pandey was misbehaved by his supporters.

"Pandey had asked Vijay Goel his views on the announcement of the Delhi Government's schemes — 200 units free electricity and waiving the dues on water bills following which they misbehaved with him. Goyal supporters also called police and forced Dilip Pandey to leave the programme," said Singh.

However, Goel had alleged that Pandey arrived at the venue and started disrupting the meeting.

"He was later made to leave the venue and an First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against him by RWA’s General Secretary, Saurabh Gandhi at Mukherjee Nagar Police Station," said Goyal.
