Friday, 12 July 2019 | PNS | BERMO

A girl of Kashmar refused to tie the knot with a youth at Jarandih in Bokaro district because he failed to get a toilet built at his quarter in time.

An employee of a coal firm in Govindpur, namely Gopi Teli, who is now running from pillar to post, requesting the authorities concerned to construct a toilet before July 29, the day fixed for marriage.

Notably, under the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), Bokaro was declared open defecation free (ODF). There are more than 30 quarters in 16- number Dhauda, where there are no toilets. Like the Telis, families of other employees, too, have to attend to the nature’s call in the open near Damodar River.

The colony is several decades old, but the company never bothered to construct toilets in the quarters allotted to its employees.
