To create awareness among people about the new Motor Vehicle (Amendment) and road safety, the Biju Yuva Vahini (BYV) launched a State-level social programme, “Rakshak”, here on Monday.
State Youth Welfare Board (SYWB) Working President Bijay Kumar Nayak presided over the inaugural function held at the AG Square where Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water, Law, Housing and Urban Development Minister Pratap Jena, Science and Technology, Public Enterprises, Social Security and Empowerment for Persons with Disabilities Minister Ashok Chandra Panda, Rajya Sabha member Dr Amar Patnaik, Bhubaneswar DCP Anup Kumar Sahoo and BYV CEO Manoj Kumar Paddhi were present.
Minister Panda advised BYV volunteers to undertake ‘Rakshak’ in letter and spirit in benefit of people. DCP Sahoo urged BYV volunteers to create awareness among people for strict implementation of the Motor Vehicel Act and to remain safe. Rajya Sabha member Dr Patnaik highlighted about social responsibility of youths vis-à-vis road safety. Minister Jena thanked the Biju Yuva Vahini for the initiative, Rakshak.
SYWB Working President Nayak said the social programme, ‘Rakshak’, would be implemented in all gram panchayats and urbal local body areas under which BYV volunteers would help people at the respective Regional Transport Offices and make them aware of safety driving.
At the outset CEO Padhi delivered the welcome address.
About 300 BYV volunteers created awareness at 20 important traffic squares.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by BYV Deputy Secretary Bijayananda Nayak.
