Public health, family welfare and medical education minister T. S. Singhdeo said with opening of HIV Viral Load Testing Centre now the patients from state can undergo testing at Raipur. Doctors can know the impact of medicines being administered to patients at the earliest, he said, adding this will facilitate better and effective treatment of HIV infected persons.
Minister was addressing the public dedication ceremony of the load testing centre at microbiology department (second floor) of the Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru Medical College, Raipur on Thursday.
Earlier, the samples were being sent to Mumbai and Kolkatta for testing. The testing is done free of cost.
The machine for the testing centre has been provided by the National Aids Control Organisation (NACO) and it is the first and lone machine in Chhattisgarh. State government is already providing free treatment to the local AIDS patients. Singhdeo also administered Rota-virus vaccine to children. On the occasion, he said the best medical services, including equipment and doctors, are now available at Dr Bheemrao Ambedkar Memorial Hospital (Mekahara).
