C’garh polling figure swells to record 75%

As per final count, a whopping 74.95 per cent turnout was recorded during the second-phase of polling in the State on April 18. The polling was held in three Lok Sabha constituencies of Kanker, Mahasamund and Rajnandgaon.

As per figures provided by the office of Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Kanker recorded 74.23 per cent voting, Mahasamund 74.51 per cent while Rajnandgaon had recorded a bumper turnout of 76.03 per cent.

In 2014 general elections these constituencies recorded 70.28 per cent, 74.63 and 74.21 per cent polling respectively. In 1,906 polling centres out of 6,484, woman voters outnumbered men in polling percentage.

Previous polling percentages were 57.60 per cent in 2009 general elections and 73.02 per cent in 2014 general elections in these three seats.

The polling centers which recorded highest poling include 97.4 per cent at Dullapur in Khairagarh assembly segment of Rajnandgaon constituency, 94.84 per cent in Ranidahra in Kawardha Assembly segment of Rajnandgaon. The highest women’s turnout was 98.13 per cent, recorded at Gudmeli polling centre in Bindranawagarh assembly segment of Mahasamund constituency. The third and last phase of polling in the state will be held on April 23 in the seven remaining Lok Sabha constituencies.
