Cabinet nod to scribes’ life insurance scheme in State

The State Cabinet on Wednesday approved Mukhyamantri Patrakar Jeevan Beema Yojana (Chief Minister Journalist Life Insurance Scheme). Under this scheme the accredited journalists working in Jharkhand will be covered under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Beema Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Beema Yojana.

The Cabinet decided that the premium to be paid under the two schemes will be covered by State Information and Public Relations Department from the Jharkhand Journalist Welfare Fund. In case of death of a journalist covered under the Scheme, his or her dependent would get Rs 2 lakh each, under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Beema Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Beema Yojana, hence a total of Rs 4 lakh. In case of complete disability in accident the journalist will be paid Rs 2 lakh insurance and in case of partial disability Rs 1 lakh will be paid.

The Cabinet also approved organising the special session of Assembly to be held on September 13 in the new assembly building. Since formation of Jharkhand till date the Assembly sessions were held in Lenin Hall of HEC. The new Assembly building, situated in Kute, Nagri will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday, after which the one day special Assembly Session, scheduled on Friday, will be conducted in this building.

The application for various pension schemes under Women and Child Development and Social Securities Department, which were earlier approved at the level of sub-divisional officer can now be approved by block development officer at rural and circle officer at urban areas. The modification in the directives was approved by the cabinet on Wednesday.

The scheme covered includes Mukhyamantri Adim Janjati Pension Yojana, Mukhyamantri Rajya Vidhwa Samman Pension Yojana, Mukhyamantri Rajya Vridhhavastha Pension Yojana, Mukhyamantri Rajya HIV/AIDS Peedit Vyakti Sahayatarth Pension Yojna and others. The Cabinet also approved increase of retirement age of Anganwadi workers from 60 to 62 years.

 An approval for formation of welfare fund for the para teachers, block resource person, circle resource persons, and teachers at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya appointed on tender was also given.
