The din of election campaign for the third and final phase of the Panchayati raj elections in the State ended on Monday. The voting for third phase of the polls in 30 blocks of the 12 districts of the state would be held on October 16. On Monday the time for campaigning ended at 5 pm.
The State Election Commission (SEC) has made all the necessary preparations for free and fair elections. On Monday, 719 polling parties departed for their destinations. These parties have been deployed in the remote location. Similarly 2,469 parties would head towards destinations on Tuesday.
In the voting of third phase, the voters belonging to 30 blocks and 2,416 village Panchayats will exercise their constitutional right to decide the fate of 1,167 candidates. In these elections 2,1391 posts of member village Panchayats, Pradhans, member block Panchayats and member district Panchayats are in the fray.
The State Election Commissioner Chandrasekhar Bhatt said all arrangements for free and fair polls have been taken.
He added polling parties for the booths located in remote areas left for their destinations of Monday itself while the parties for other areas would leave on Tuesday.
The counting of votes will be done on October 21 and the results are expected to be declared on the same day.
