Two alleged liquor smugglers died from drowning after a car in which they were carrying illicit liquor fell in a pond. The incident occurred at national Capital's Rohini area during the early hours of Monday. Police have recovered the car and body of one of the person while operations are still underway to find another man.
According to SD Mishra, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Rohini district, police have recovered one man identified as Pushpender (22), a resident of Kasganj (UP)
"On Monday in early hours, a police control room (PCR) call was received from a local resident of Kanjhawala who informed that a Tata Safari car with two occupants lost balance and had fallen into a pond," said the DCP.
"Acting on the call a police team rushed to the spot.
In the morning police had only managed to recover the car," said the DCP.
"Later in the day a body was seen floating in the pond and with the help of divers and rescue teams it was taken out and was taken to the hospital. It was was later identified while the other man remained untraced," said the DCP.
"The exact cause of death will be ascertained by the autopsy reports. A case of negligent driving and under excise act has been registered to further probe the case," said the DCP adding that further investigation is going.
