Speeding up the probe into the Rae Bareli road accident in which the Unnao rape victim and her lawyer were critically injured and her two aunts were killed, the sleuths of Central Bureau of Investigation on Sunday conducted raids at several locations in Unnao, Banda and Fatehpur to collect evidence relating to the incident.
The CBI has summoned all the accused of the Rae Bareli accident to Lucknow on Monday to get their statement recorded. They include Manoj Singh, Vinod Mishra, Haripal Singh, Komal Singh, Arun Singh, Gyanendra Singh, Rinku Singh and Awadhesh Singh.
On the other hand, a CBI team took expelled BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, the main accused, to New Delhi where he will be produced in a court on Monday.
The CBI team also detained one Naveen Singh, who has been accused of threatening the rape victim days before the Rae Bareli accident. He is the son of Shashi Singh, an accused in the Unnao rape case. Shashi Singh had allegedly lured the rape victim to Sengar’s place in Unnao.
Naveen Singh has also asked to get his statement recorded in Lucknow.
On Sunday, an 18-member CBI team carried out searches at the residence of Sengar and other accused in the accident case. The search operation spread across at least 17 premises in Lucknow, Banda, Unnao, Fatehpur.
The CBI sleuths thoroughly searched the residence of Sengar and also examined the CCTV camera installed there. The sleuths rechecked the room in which the girl was allegedly held hostage and later raped.
The sleuths grilled the servants working at Sengar’s house to get details related to the rape and Rae Bareli incidents. Some of the rooms were locked and the sleuths broke open them for the search.
The CBI team also searched the residences of Sengar’s sister and brother Manoj.
Sources said the CBI sleuths seized some documents from Manoj’s house.
A team also questioned some villagers to get details related to the Rae Bareli accident.
