The Chief Election Officer (CEO) Uttarakhand Soujanya and Additional Chief Electoral Officer Uttarakhand Shanmugam took a review meet with the officers concerned on Tuesday and asked the election officers and the nodal officers to ready for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
In course of the meeting, Soujanya directed District Magistrate Deepak Rawat, SSP Janmejay Khanduri and other senior administrative and police officers present to review the functioning of EVMs and VVPATs. She also stressed on the officers who would be tasked with the election-related works to be imparted training for the election. Besides, she said that the officers in charge of the election must be fully acquainted with the process of the postal ballots.
Soujanya also said all the divyangs, irrespective of the status of their disability, must be enabled to cast their votes sans the least glitch.
“All the required arrangements must be made to ensure that the especially abled people come to the polling booths and cast their votes without facing the least difficulty,” she said. She asked the officers concerned to firm up the training calendar of the electoral personnel.
“The transport department must compile and send the details of the vehicles to be required for holding the election to the district election officer,” she added.
She also directed the district election officer to conduct a market survey on the actual expenses to be incurred during the public meetings so that it is easier to assess the expenditures as presented by the political leaders.
The CEO inspected several offices related to the election to take stock of the poll preparations along with the district officials. “We must now go all-out to ensure that the LS election is held in the district glitch-free with the participation of all,” she stressed.
A number of senior officers were present at the meeting.
