CEO suggests new museum in Kedarnath

The chief executive officer appointed by the Government of India to review the construction works underway in Kedarnath has suggested that a new museum containing archaeologically important idols of lord Shiva with could be built at Kedarnath. The chief secretary Utpal Kumar Singh said this after touring Kedarnath on Sunday with the Culture ministry CEO Raghavendra Singh.

He said that there are archaeologically important statues of lord Shiva in various museums of the nation. Similarly, archaeologically important items and statues of lord Shiva can be kept in a museum in Kedarnath for the benefit of pilgrims arriving here. The chief secretary said that an open-air museum of idols available in various states can be put up in Kedarnath. During the joint inspection by the chief secretary and the CEO on Sunday, the reconstruction works were also viewed. The reconstruction works in Kedarnath are being undertaken at a swift pace, added the chief secretary.
