CEO VL Kantha Rao reviewes election preparations

Chief Electoral Officer VL Kantha Rao reviewed election preparations of five parliamentary constituencies under the Indore division for the Lok Sabha Election-2019 in Indore today. He instructed the District Collectors, District Election Officers and Superintendents of Police to take stern action against violation of the model code of conduct.

Full attention should be paid towards the sanctity of the election and all the arrangements should be completed within the stipulated time. Ensure strict adherence of provisions of the election.

Rao further directed that the protocol should be followed as regard to the EVM and VVPAT and ensure necessary arrangements by holding regular interaction and maintaining coordination with District Officers of the bordering states.

Besides, he instructed that an action plan should be made at district level for security along with law and order and ensure its effective implementation. Pay special attention also towards prohibitory action and take action against officers and employees, who go on Leave without permission, he added.

It was informed in the meeting that 90, 91,587 names of the voters are registered in 5 parliamentary constituencies for the Lok Sabha Election-2019 after the final publication of the final electoral roll. This includes 46,36,101 male, 44,55,144 female and 342 other voters.

The electoral population ratio of the voters is 61.17 and gender ratio is 965.47 in the division. Moreover, it was informed that 11 thousand 82 polling booths have been made in the Indore Division and out of these polling booths 2,020 polling booths have been kept in critical category. All the basic facilities have been arranged for the voters at all the polling booths.

Regarding EVMs, it was informed that FLC of VVPAT and EVMs along with the first randomization of EVMs have already been completed. Moreover training of officers-employees, master trainer, item expenditure and police sector officer has been completed. These trainings have been imparted according to the calendar fixed as per the sequence of directives of the Commission.

Similarly, information has been given in connection to the redressal of public complaints related to the election, police arrangements and voters awareness efforts.    

Those who present at the review meeting include the Secretary of the Election Commission of India SB Joshi, Additional Chief Electoral Officer of the State Sandeep Yadav, Divisional Commissioner Akash Tripathi, Additional Director General of Police Varun Kapoor, Excise Commissioner Rajnish Shrivastava, IG Police (Law and Order) Yogesh Chowdhary, IG Police (Election Expenditure) Anant Kumar Singh, IG Police (Narcotics) GG Pandey and Joint Director General (Income Tax Department) Prashant Mishra.
