Chandigarh Police claims to solve blind murder case’

Chandigarh Police on Friday claimed to have achieved a major success in cracking a blind murder case with the arrest of the accused within 5-6 hours.

The deceased is identified as Bangala, a city resident while the accused is identified as Vipin Singh, also a resident here.

Giving details, a spokesman of UT Police said that a wireless message was received on Friday that a person is lying unconscious in Tin Colony, Sector-52 here. On this information, a Police party reached the spot and found that unconscious person was already lifted to GMCH-32 by PCR staff.

The unknown person who was brought by PCR vehicle staff at GMCH-32 was declared brought dead by duty doctor. Following this, the statement of PCR staff was recorded and on the basis of the statement of PCR staff, a case was registered under Section 302 IPC in Police Sttaion-36 (PS-36) here.

During the course of investigation a special team under the supervision of ASP/South was constituted and the special team was led by Inspector Ranjodh Singh SHO, PS-36 to trace the accused.

The team received secret information that the deceased Bangala was drinking with one Vipin Singh, who is now leaving Chandigarh and going to Uttrakhand. The police team then succeeded to nab Vipin Singh, resident of village Kajheri, Sector-52 here. Vipin Singh, 28, was thoroughly interrogated and  disclosed that he is working as a cook at Hotel Peddler Sector-35 here, the spokesman said.

During November 21 night, he went to Hotel Maya Palace, village Kajheri to collect the cash on behalf of his hotel owner, where he met the Hotel worker, Bangala. Thereafter, they both started consuming liquor at Hotel Maya Palace. When the liquor was finished they both went to purchase more liquor from Sector-52.

The accused Vipin further disclosed that deceased Bangala was aggressive person and he used to start fighting on minor issues. When they did not get liquor from Sector-52, Bangala started abusing him. During the quarrel accused Vipin Singh attacked Bangala with a stone and fled from the spot, the spokesman said.

When the accused came to know that Bangala has died, he planned to leave Chandigarh. The accused Vipin will be produced in the Court on Saturday, the spokesman added.
