The administrative and police officers of Chhattisgarh and Odisha held an interstate joint meeting on Saturday as part of preparation for Lok Sabha Election 2019.
The District Electoral Officer cum Collectors, Superintendent of Police of bordering districts of both states, Mahasamund, Gariaband and Dhamtari in Chhattisgarh while Bargarh in Odisha participated in the meet held at Mahasamund district office conference hall.
Raipur Commissioner G R Churendra and Inspector General of Police Raipur Range Anand Chhabra presided over the meeting. Both the officials laid emphasis of establishing better coordination among the administrative and police officials so that election process is held peacefully. The lines for mutual communication through a common platform are required, so timely action can be taken in case of any emergency.
IG Chhabra said that on both sides of border, officials had to conduct monitoring at all level so that liquor, cash and other allurement materials does not cross borders. Even barriers can be installed for checking on road routes.
The district level officers briefed the meeting on preparations undertaken at the district levels, including steps being undertaken to secure the borders of states.
The officials agreed upon to share information regarding the movement of Naxals in Naxal affected areas and intensify checking. The incidents related to the recently held Chhattisgarh State Assembly election 2018 were also shared.
