Delhi Chief Secretary Vijay Dev convened a meeting with different agencies to review action taken to control Yamuna pollution.
Dev, during the meeting directed Delhi Jal Board to ensure Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) are operated properly to meet the prescribed standards“Deadlines given for its various projects are met and there is no leakage of waste water from the sewerage system to the drains.
DJB shall expedite the matter regarding registering of the vendors for collection, transportation and disposal of Septic Tank effluent into Sewage Pumping Stations and STPs as per the provisions of the recent notification issued for septage management, quoted a statement from Delhi Government office.
The development came a day after NGT rapped agencies including flood and irrigation department for lack in coordination. “No one is taking initiative on Yamuna pollution problem” , the green tribunal said.
