Communist Party of India (Marxist) state secretary Heera Lal Yadav condemned the arrest of the complainant in Shahjahanpur rape case on the basis of the charges levelled by accused Swami Chinmayanand.
Yadav demanded immediate release of the rape survivor and also urged the court to decide her interim bail plea on merit.
“Chinmayanand is in jail in the rape case which was lodged on the complaint of the survivor. But the police slapped lenient sections of the Indian Penal Code against the BJP leader. On the other hand, the police went the extra mile in arresting the girl, whose interim bail plea is to be heard on September 26 and arrested her. In the light of these facts, it is evident that the police are opting pressure tactic against the survivor to save Chinmayanand,” Yadav said.
