Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and national convener of BJP membership drive, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, on Friday, reviewed party’s ongoing membership drive in State. Chouhan, during his one-day visit to State Capital had discussion with senior BJP leaders on the progress of membership drive and also issued necessary directives for making membership drive a big success.
The party has set a target to enroll 30 lakh members across the State with its MLAs asked to enroll 50,000 members from their respective constituency.
As part of party membership drive, Chouhan the three times Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, visited Jajpur village at Nagri and participated at the membership drive. For enrolling people from all walks of society in BJP fold, Chouhan also visited the house of a tribal woman Chainu Oraon and washed the feet of a tribal woman there. Later, Chouhan along with other senior BJP leaders including State president Laxman Gilua and State BJP membership drive in-charge Pradeep Verma visited the house of another tribal Budhwa Oraon and had lunch there.
The lunch comprised delicacies of Jharkhand Mandua roti, Dhuska and Rugra.
Chouhan said, “I am glad with the love and affection the people of Jharkhand gave me. The tribal delicacies served at Budhwa Oraon’s house were delicious.
The family was busy since morning to prepare the food for special guest.”
After having lunch at Oraon’s house, the BJP leader also participated at the membership drive at banquet hall in Nagri were more than 400 sportspersons joined the BJP. Apart from enrolling new members in Saffron party fold, the BJP leader also participated at a plantation drive organized by State BJP unit.
Chouhan said, “As Prime Minister Narendra Modi also believes in making social change, during the membership drive thrust has been laid on plantation and water conservation too. On earlier occasions too, Modi jee has stressed on Swachata Abhiyan.”
The BJP leader also appreciated the work done by Chief Minister Raghubar Das. He said, the Das is doing good work and under the leadership of Chief Minister Jharkhand has witnessed all round development both in infrastructure and social sectors.
