The Nayapalli police on Sunday detained a city-based builder for allegedly duping investors to the tune of Rs 45 lakh on a pretext of providing them lands. The accused builder identified as Satyabrata Dhir is currently being interrogated by police in this connection.
According to the police, Satyabrat had collected a huge amount of money from the customers on the pretext of providing plots to them. Later, he neither provided the plots nor returned the money and allegedly siphoned off the money.
After repeated failed attempts to get back their money, the investors had lodged a complaint against the accused with the police in 2016.
