Civic bodies issue 566 challans, slap Rs 27L fine on violators

nSouth and North Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) have issued 566 challan and imposed Rs 27,00,400 in its jurisdiction for various pollution related violations including burning of garbage and dry leaves, dumping construction and demolition waste in open besides others.

The south Corporation has constituted patrolling teams to inspect sites and take action against the violators around the clock. A senior SDMC official said that in Central zone, 112 challans were issued amounting Rs. 40,000 during night patrolling for under 'Solid Waste Management' (SWM) by-laws. Further,120 number of

sites have been inspected to check burning of garbage and dry leaves, he said, adding that in Najafgarh zone, 42 challans have been issued during night patrolling. The official said that 27 challan issued in South Zone and eight in West zone,

The north Corporation issued 89 challans for burning garbage in the open, 96 challans for emission from construction activities, 88 challans for road dust, 104 challans for dumping of construction and demolition waste in open and imposed a penalty of Rs 24,48,000 last 24 hrs for violations after inspecting at 1279 locations.
