State Election Commission has made a minor change in the timings of poling in the districts of Bastar region.
The voters of Kondagaon, Narayanpur, Kanker, Dantewada, Sukma and Bijapur districts in Bastar could now use their franchise on normal timing of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Earlier it was scheduled to be in between 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
State Election Commissioner Thakur Ram Singh informed that a decision in this regard was taken after a review meeting with District Electoral Officers and senior police officials held recently.
On suggestions of officials of Bastar region, the commission has decided for timings of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. as it was in the case of other local bodies’ areas in the state.
