With the monsoon lashing the national Capital, the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NMC) has fastened its belt to prevent waterlogging by deploying manpower and machines to desilt the remaining parts of drains under its jurisdiction.

In order to speed up the process to clear drains, a meeting in this regard was convened on Tuesday and it was decided to ensure better coordination among the departments to solve the issues, a senior NMC official said.

NMC Mayor Avtar Singh also launched “Operation Mission” for better coordination over the issues related to desilting of drains.

Meanwhile, Standing Committee Chairman Jai Prakash inspected Kishan Ganj rail under bridge to check the waterlogging situation after first spell of rain, blamed the ‘Public Work Department’ for not desilting drains causing waterlogging.
