Class XII student drowned in check dam

A class XII student of DVC degree college drowned in check dam constructed across local unnamed river in Phase -ll area under Bokaro thermal police station on Wednesday, said Officer-in Charge Umesh Kumar Thakur. He said that Rohit Kumar Gupta (19), son of Rampukar Gupta from the Jarwabasti village, went to the dam in his village to swim there.  It is said that Rohit attempted to swim across the dam as water level looked low. But somehow he drowned midway. Fire and rescue service personnel from Bokaro thermal searched for the body for three hours and retrieved it from the waters and sent him to local DVC hospital where Dr Nitish Kumar declared him brought dead.
