Cleanliness drive in Sultanpur Lodhi after 550th Parkash Purb

After the successful execution of the 550th parkash purb of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji in Sultanpur Lodhi, the Local Government department has pumped in its resources for making the holy city clean and green.

Deputy Director of the Local Government department, Barjinder Singh on Saturday said that as the langars and other exhibitions have been winded up from the city, the department has roped in its resources for cleaning the city from the litter. He said the department has deployed one joint Deputy Director, six Executive Officers, two Chief Sanitary Inspectors and six sanitary inspectors for overseeing the cleanliness work in the holy city. Singh said that around 300 sanitary workers have been deployed for accomplishing this task in a highly professional manner.

The Deputy Director said that a deadline of November 20 has been fixed for cleaning the entire city and the teams have been asked the complete the work within the stipulated deadline. He said that adequate arrangements have been made for disposing the solid waste besides ensuring that the entire holy city was thoroughly cleaned in a professional manner. He said that no stone would be left unturned for this noble cause.

The Deputy Director said that during the heavy influx of the devotees at Sultanpur Lodhi the department had given top priority to maintain cleanliness and hygiene. He said due to meticulous planning and effective implementation by the department the city had remained clean and green, which was highly appreciated by one and all.

Barjinder Singh said that there were around 80 langars in the city and now when most of these langars have been winded up, the department has taken the responsibility of cleanliness at all the places where langars were serving food to the people besides ensuring overall cleanliness of the city.
