CM’S SECURITY BREACHED, REPORT SOUGHT

Friday, 06 December 2019 | PNS | Mohali

A major security breach was witnessed during the ongoing investment summit when a young man walked right up to the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on stage and handed over some papers requesting him to resolve his problem.

Capt Amarinder, who enjoys a Z-plus security, maintained his calm and composure all through, and instead asked his security persons to let him wait till the end of the session. However, the incident has left the audience puzzled and stunned.

Taking note of the development, the Chief Minister’s Chief Principal Secretary Suresh Kumar sought a detailed report into the incident to identify the security lapse, “if any”, and take suitable action.

Kumar has sought details on how the man managed to come so close to the Chief Minister, and why the security personnel did not stop him.

Notably, considering the security, those attending the inaugural session, including the media, have been provided special security passes.

The youth was identified as Amandeep Singh, a resident of Trivedi Camp in Derabassi. Amandeep approached the Chief Minister, while he was in a “live” interactive session with NDTV’s Prannoy Roy, with his complaint and handed over some documents to Capt Amarinder from below the stage before being whisked away by the security personnel.

Amandeep complained that while a case relating to his shop in Derabassi was still pending in court, a property dealer had dispossessed him of the same and locked him out.

Later, Capt Amarinder met the youth personally and gave him a patient hearing.

Taking cognizance of his grievance, the Chief Minister right away ordered the Mohali SSP Kuldeep Singh Chahal and Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan to investigate his complaint and take suitable action.

He directed the SSP and the DC to restore the shop, reportedly belonging to the Waqf Board, to Amandeep after verifying the facts.
