CM, Dy CM refute graft charge

Tuesday, 02 July 2019 | Staff Reporter | NEW DELHI

Refuting corruption allegation raised by Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Manoj Tiwari, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deuty Chief Minister Manish Sisodia challenged BJP to arrest them if they were involved in Rs 2,000 crore scam.

Pertinently, both the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders were responding to allegations raised by Tiwari who quoted an RTI response claiming an additional Rs 2,000 crore was spent on the construction of classrooms in the national Capital.

Kejriwal questioned the BJP leader's claims. "BJP's CBI went through our files, but did not find anything," he said on Twitter. "If there has been a scam, we should be arrested immediately. All the agencies are with you. Why do you want to stop the poor from getting good education?"

Sisodia challenged Tiwari to arrest him. "I challenge Manoj Tiwari to arrest me if I have been involved in a scam," Sisodia said on Twitter. "Either arrest me by this evening or apologise to the people of Delhi. Apologise to the parents in Delhi and the children, for whom the school was being built."

Sisodia, who is incharge of the education department also lashed out at Tiwari saying the BJP Delhi chief should get him arrested if he was guilty or apologise for "lying" to the poor people whose children are getting education in good quality schools of the Delhi government.

Responding to allegations, Kejriwal hit back at BJP leader and said that the BJP was trying to hamper good education being provided to poor people in Delhi by his government.

"The BJP's CBI checked all our files but found nothing. If there is a scam then arrest us immediately, all the agencies are with you. Why do you want to obstruct good education to the poor," the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief tweeted.

In another tweet, he said "For the first time poor children are studying in such good schools (of Delhi government) which were earlier available to rich people only.

"Now children of auto drivers, housemaids and labourers are becoming doctors, engineers and lawyers. BJP does not want this so it has deliberately kept the schools in poor quality in the states ruled by it."

Sisodia also posted a video presentation on infrastructure at Delhi government schools, and challenged Tiwari to name 10 such schools in BJP ruled states which could match them.

He said the expenditure on construction of classrooms can not be calculated as Tiwari has done.

"He knows no maths or anything about education," Sisodia said.
