CM meets Kapil Dev to spread awareness

Monday, 09 September 2019 | Staff Reporter | New Delhi

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal visited the residence of legendary former cricket captain of India Kapil Dev as part of his effort to spread awareness about the campaign against vector-borne diseases.

Kejriwal also tagged Dev on twitter as part of a social media campaign before visiting him, urging him to join the campaign. Dev assured him that he would join the campaign from the next Sunday morning.

"It's a very big initiative. Congratulations to the Chief Minister for taking such a responsibility. I think it is our responsibility. I think we all have to take good care of ourselves. What can be more important than preventing disease? Let's save Delhi from dengue" he said after the meeting.

Kejriwal said, "I am extremely happy that a lot of celebrities have joined this initiative. Many people have tweeted today about it. Delhi's people are participating in large numbers. I am very happy that Kapil Dev, who is such a big youth icon, has given his support. I am confident that many other people will be inspired to join the campaign. Lakhs of people will be inspired by Kapil Dev."

Chief Minister thanked Dev for his support and said "It takes just 10 minutes every Sunday. Everyone has ten minutes on a Sunday. The simple formula to protect ourselves from dengue is to ensure there is no clean stagnant water anywhere in your home."

Kapil Dev also tweeted in support of the drive, saying, "A good initiative taken by the honourable CM of Delhi... I request the Delhi residents to take all necessary precautions... Suggested!!"
