Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat laid a wreath on the coffin of lance naik Sandeep Thapa who was martyred along the line of control in the Nowshera sector of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. The chief minister visited Thapa’s home at Rajawala in Dehradun on Sunday to pay tribute to the martyr. Rawat also met the family members of the martyr and expressed his condolence. Stating that the people of Uttarakhand stand with the family in their hour of sorrow, the chief minister said that the State Government will provide all possible assistance to the family of the martyr. MLAs Sahdev Singh Pundir, Munna Singh Chauhan, Dehradun district magistrate C Ravishankar and senior superintendent of police Arun Mohan Joshi also paid tribute to the martyred soldier.
It is pertinene to mention here that lance naik Thapa lost his life in a ceasefire violation by Pakistan in the Nowshera sector of Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday. The 35 year old soldier attained martyrdom in the exchange of fire. He is survived by his wife Nisha Thapa. A large number of locals were also present to pay their last homage to the martyred soldier.
